    WHAT YOU DO

    Primary Responsibilities

     

    The Restaurant Accountant is responsible for recording journal entries and producing financial statements for multiple restaurant locations on a periodic basis. This position supports the store location management teams with the financial reporting functions and processes.

     

     

    Specific Job Duties

    • Participate in fiscal period closes, record journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and other accounting processes/functions
    • Review general ledger detail, identify trends and errors, and reclass as needed.
    • Prepare financial reports
    • Assist store leadership with questions and inquires related to profit and loss statements, accounting processes, and financial systems
    • Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns
    • Prepare and provide annual audit schedules and supporting documents
    • Prepare variance, trend, and fluctuation analysis connected with actual results vs. budgets, prior periods, prior year ect.
    • Assist with expense reporting systems
    • Demonstrate ability to recognize and implement efficiencies in accounting and financial close processes
    • Use advanced accounting excel and other tools to mine large data sets and automate processes
    • Research accounting discrepancies and GAAP guidance/application as needed
    • Assist with ad hoc accounting requests and projects

    Supervisory Responsibility

     

    This role is responsible for administering and monitoring various accounting functions throughout the company. This position reports directly to the Financial Controller.

     

    Work Environment

     

    This job operates in an office setting and requires sitting and working with a computer a 90% of the time. The position is exposed to energetic music levels, sitting, and typing for long periods of time (8+ hours).

     

    Physical Demands

     

    The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires the ability sit for extended periods of time (8+ hours). The use of a phone, laptop, printer and accounting systems software are required. Requires high and low levels of movement with the ability to reach items. When working in the restaurants requires the ability to walk/stand. Movement is spent in high-traffic areas while performing various tasks. Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form. The position requires viewing large amounts of data and performing data entry from a computer. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

     

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

     

    Full-time position that requires a flexible schedule, office hours are 8 am to 6 pm, Mon. through Fri. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

     

    Experience and Education

     

    • BS in Accounting or emphasis in Accounting required
    • A minimum of 2 years of accounting and financial reporting experience
    • Restaurant accounting experience preferred. 
    • Knowledge of GAAP accounting required
    • Proficient Excel shills required (understanding of reference look-up and formulas to automate tasks)
    • Ability to multi-task and strong organization skills
    • Ability to work well with others and on a small team
    • Excellent written and verbal skills
    • Must be detailed oriented, adaptable to change, and open to feedback
    • Ability to maintain a positive outlook in the workplace
